Venture Partner: Simon Gage, PhD, MBA

Dr. Simon Gage is Director of Edinburgh International Science Festival, the world’s first science festival. He has twenty-five years of experience of working with the scientific community, the communication of the benefits of science to numerous audiences and the running of an entrepreneurial enterprise. He has pioneered new ways of delivering science communication programs, created new markets for the festival and sustained growth and development over more than a decade. As director of the UK’s primary science festival he is extensively connected to the UK scientific community and knows his way around the research communities well. Links to Scottish life sciences, medical and informatics research groups and the VC community are particularly close.

Trained as a physicist at Bristol and Edinburgh universities he spent four years undertaking research for BP Ventures. He then switched to social entrepreneurship and joined the Edinburgh International Science Festival where he became Director after 4 years. He completed an Executive MBA at Oxford University in 2009, during which he was awarded the Park Square Capital prize.
